These are organic compounds containing exactly two carboxylic acid groups. Glutaconic acid exists in all living organisms, ranging from bacteria to humans. Glutaconic acid, with regard to humans, has been linked to the inborn metabolic disorder glutaric aciduria I. Based on a literature review a significant number of articles have been published on Glutaconic acid.
